How do we make money?
You get paid by us via Paypal on the 15th of each month for activity
of the previous month, provided that your accrued earnings are at
least $25.00.
Does this work with Adsense?
Yes. The Ontok Highlighter does not conflict with Adsense terms and
conditions.
What keyphrases will the Ontok Highlighter highlight?
Ontok matches keyphrases your page content to over 10 million
product-related and informative keyphrases, scoring matches based on
topic relevance, how product-related the keyword phrases are, and how
"rare" or informative the keyphrase is.
What kind of web sites does this work well on?
Any site that has regularly mentions product-related keyphrases:
forums, blogs, review sites, and trade publications.
How much revenue does this generate?
This depends on the kind of web content site you have. For quality
content, Ontok is prepared to pay between $3 and $10 CPM.
How long does it take for my Ontok
account to be approved?
No more than 1 business day. Your site must have a US audience to be approved.
Does my site have to be in English to use the Ontok Highlighter?
Yes. At present we only support English highlighting.
Does my site have to have US visitors to use the Ontok Highlighter?
Yes. We route users to shopping.com merchants, which is US-centric.
How we suppress highlighting?
We can do it! See our page on How to Get the Highlighter Not
to Highlight.
Can you change the appearance of the links?
You can change the link color when you get the Ontok Highlighter code,
along with the border color of the ad.
How often do you crawl my site?
We cache every unique URL for 1 to 4 hours before we crawl it
again. We do our best to strip to strip sessionid-looking things from
your URL when we cache our page analysis. But if we don't do this
properly, we may be crawling your site more than we should. Let us
know if you think this is the case.
What browsers and operating systems do you support?
We support IE6+, FF1.0+, and Safari, on all major operating systems
(Win/Mac/Lin).
Can I get a report of how many mouseovers and clicks were made?
Yes, just log in to your account.
Do you collect personally identifiable user information?
No, we do not, and will not do so in the future.
Do you cookie users?
No, we do not cookie users at this time, but may do so in the futre.
How long does it take for the links to appear?
This depends on the structure of your HTML page and which browser is
being used. Longer pages take longer, but typically it finishes
within 3 seconds.
Where should the Ontok Highlighter Javascript code go?
For robustness, place it at the END of your HTML page, right before the closing </body> tag. Here's a quick visual:
